Because her adopted dog caused expenses, Lily Allen returned her to the animal shelter. The British singer is now receiving a lot of criticism for this.

Lily Allen is now getting a lot of backlash for an anecdote from her life. In 2021, the British singer adopted a dog – but living with the four-legged friend turned out differently than expected. That’s why the now 39-year-old decided to take the animal back to the animal shelter. Allen is now being heavily criticized for this.

“We adopted a dog before, but then she ate my passport and the kids’ passports. So I brought her back home,” the musician recalls in her podcast “Miss Me?”. “She ate all three of our passports and our visas. I can’t tell you how much money it cost me to have everything replaced because it was during Covid. It was a logistical nightmare.”

Adopting the dog “ruined her life”. The loss of the travel documents prevented her daughters from seeing their father Sam Cooper, who lives in England, for “four or five months”. The London native lives in New York with her partner David Harbour and her two daughters Ethel and Marnie, who are from her relationship with Cooper.

Lily Allen therefore saw no other option than to give the dog back: “Passports were not the only thing she ate, she was a very badly behaved dog. I tried really hard, but it just didn’t work and the passports were the tip of the iceberg.”

Lily Allen doesn’t get any sympathy for her stories, but she does get plenty of criticism. “This is her fault, not the poor dog’s. She is clearly an idiot of the highest order for not keeping important documents away from animals,” wrote one person on X. “There are no badly behaved dogs, only badly behaved owners. A dog didn’t ruin your life, you ruined your own life by not taking responsibility for your things,” wrote another user. Numerous people joined in the criticism.
