Popular musician Hasan Abidur Reza Jewel has been put on life support. The cancer-stricken singer is on life support in a private hospital in the capital.
About Jewel’s physical condition, his wife Sangeeta Ahmed said, ‘Jewel was kept in palliative care since last October. He was recently admitted to a private hospital in Dhaka. He has been kept on life support since last Tuesday night when his physical condition deteriorated.
Jewel was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2011. Then the cancer spread to the lungs and bones. Since then he was being treated in various hospitals in the country and abroad. His physical condition has deteriorated again.
In 1993, Jewel’s first album ‘Kuasha Prahar’ was released. It was followed by successive releases like ‘Ek Bickel’ (1994), ‘Amar Chai Dhaknam’ (1995), ‘Ekta Manso’ (1996), ‘Dekha Hobe Na’ (1997), ‘Beshi Kuch Nai’ (1998), ‘Bedna Todhi’. Bedna’ (1999), ‘Firti Pathe’ (2003), ‘Darja Khola Bari’ (2009), ‘Emon Ken Holo’ (2017).
Jewel released two more albums with one song each. These are – ‘Tate Ki Ba Ase Jay’ (2016), ‘Ae Sabujer Dhankhet’ (2016). The singer gained great popularity after the release of the album ‘Ek Bickel’ in 1994.
