A midway point has been set in the affair of the influential black singer, songwriter and producer R. Kelly, winner of three Grammy awards.
According to the New York prosecutor’s office, which is broadcast by the NYT, the 54-year-old performer, according to the jury’s verdict, was found guilty of all charges against him – racketeering, human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation, as well as pedophilia and dozens of rapes.
The verdict will be announced next May. Collectively, the singer could face up to ten years in prison. R Kelly’s party has already announced that it is going to appeal the court decision.
Robert Sylvester Kelly was born in 1967 in Chicago. He began his career in 1992, performing with the group Public Announcement.
According to Billboard, R. Kelly is the most successful singer of the 90s for the number of singles in the US Top 40.
One of the “Grammy” – for the best song for a film – Kelly took for the track I Believe I Can Fly, sounding in the first “Space Jam”.
