jpnn.com – JAKARTA – Perludem researcher Usep Hasan Sadikin suggested that the sole candidate who lost in the 2024 regional elections should not take part in the re-election.

According to Usep, the DPR only needs to add the phrase to the Regional Election Law so that the implementation of regional head elections will be better.

“Just adding one provision to answer that states that if the empty box wins, the losing single candidate may not participate again in the 2025 Pilkada,” said Usep.

He conveyed the proposal at a discussion entitled ‘The 2024 Pilkada Phenomenon Together or Against Empty Boxes’ which was monitored online from Jakarta, Wednesday (11/9).

Usep reflected on the village head election. If there is only one candidate, then it is challenged by the existence of bamboo plants.

Voters can insert sticks or other objects as a sign that they are not voting for a single candidate.

“If the empty tube wins, the village head candidate in the next village head election will not be allowed to run again,” he said.

A similar thing also happened in Makassar City where the sole candidate who had lost in the re-election lost again.

Perludem proposed to the DPR that the sole candidate who lost in the 2024 Pilkada not take part in the re-election.
