At the Dubai tournament the South Tyrolean defeated another young tennis talent, the 22-year-old Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, world number 43. A match in recovery: after losing the first set 6-4, Sinner recovered in the second and managed to win the tie break.
In the tie-break Sinner was down 6-3 and had to cancel three consecutive match points.
Then in the third set he dominated by winning 6 to 3.
In Dubai, a tournament that does not require the vaccination obligation, the number 1 Novak Djokovic also made his return to the field after the expulsion from Australia which prevented him from playing the Open: the Serbian champion made his debut by beating the blue Lorenzo Musetti.
