Sisteron: one dead and seven injured in several road accidents, a 76-year-old driver implicated

Drama on the roads provencal. At the wheel of a car, a 76-year-old man hit two motorcycles and a camper van in Sisteron (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence), killing one person and injuring seven, according to information from BFM TVof Dauphine Libere and of Provence. According to the first elements, the septuagenarian drove several meters before finishing his race in the last vehicle.

The accident took place on Saturday around 2 p.m. BFMTV reports that the driver of the car first hit a 61-year-old motorcyclist who was evacuated to Sisteron hospital. 200 meters further on, he again collided with another motorcycle.

17-year-old girl also injured

On the second motorcycle was a couple. A woman died while a man, seriously injured, was also transferred to Sisteron hospital. After these two collisions, the driver ended up in a motorhome, injuring its occupants and a 17-year-old girl. She, like the other two injured, was taken to the town hospital.

“An investigation has been opened to establish the causes and circumstances of this traffic accident”, assures the public prosecutor of Digne-les-Bains Rémy Avon to our colleagues from Dauphiné Libéré.

“According to the first screenings carried out, the driver of the car was not under the influence of alcohol or narcotics”, he specifies.
