Three sisters were sentenced in Cotopaxi to 10 years deprivation of liberty this Wednesday, May 31, 2023, after being declared as direct perpetrators of the crime of peculation.
The Attorney General’s Office reported that Nancy, Nelly and Adela GG caused economic damage to 400 partners of the Savings and Credit Cooperative Friar Manuel Salcedowhich exceeded USD 4 million.
The presidents of the Supervisory Board and the Board of Directors of said cooperative denounced “the operational and financial mismanagement by the manager, Nancy G., after preventing the operation of the board of directors to verify the inconveniences”, adds the Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the complainants, on May 14, 2018, they went to said entity and found several people claiming the pay your bills and of fixed term policies.
“Among them, there is a citizen to whom the defendant had signed a document in a notary, where he promised to return the money from the policy because the cooperative no longer had liquidity,” the entity said.
From that date, he recounted, the partners’ claims beganto whom the defendant had contacted personally to invest in said financial institution and in return she would pay them the money and the respective interest, but the cooperative did not comply.
Given the large number of complaints, the Prosecutor’s Office began investigations and ordered a accounting auditwhich determined an economic loss of USD 4 226 923.

Among the evidence presented are the victim testimonials and of the accounting experts.
The testimonies of the members of the administration and surveillance councils and of the officials of the Superintendency of Popular and Solidarity Economy (SEPS) and workers of the cooperative, with whom it was possible to establish that the three defendants carried out money collectionsindicated.
In addition, there are the testimonies of the accountant that carried out the balances, of the experts who carried out the recognition of the place of the facts, as well as the expertise audio, video and related.
“It was confirmed that the manager and her sisters Adela and Nelly GG fraudulently executed operations that decreased the assets of the financial institution, for which reason they could not respond to the partners,” the Prosecutor’s Office concluded.
