Situation in occupied Al-Quds: Emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers on Tuesday

Cairo – The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States announced on Sunday the holding of an emergency session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of foreign ministers next Tuesday, at the request of the State of Palestine in view of the developments in the occupied Al-Quds.

In a statement, the Arab League noted that this meeting, which will be held via videoconference, will focus on the Israeli attacks on occupied Al-Quds and Islamic and Christian holy sites, particularly the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the attack on worshipers during this blessed month of Ramadan, in addition to the brutal Israeli attacks and plans to seize the homes of the maqdessis, particularly in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, in an attempt to empty the holy city of its inhabitants and displace its population.

According to Arab League Assistant Secretary-General Hussam Zaki, it was decided to raise the level of the meeting to the ministerial level instead of the level of permanent delegates “in view of the seriousness of the Israeli attacks against worshipers at Al-Aqsa Mosque and residents of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, as part of a systematic Israeli policy aimed at Judaizing the city of Al-Quds and changing the current legal and historical situation of the city and its sacred places.”
