Actor Karthi’s Uzhavan Foundation’s Uzhavar Awards 2022 Awards Ceremony was held at Sir Pitti Thiyagaraya Stadium in Thiyagaraya Nagar, Chennai. Uzhavan Foundation founder actor Karthi, actor Surya, director Vetrimaran and actor Sivakumar presented the awards.
Awards were presented to farmers and agro-based groups for incorporating agricultural innovations in agriculture such as water reclamation, traditional seed recovery, organic farming and marketing. A total of 6 awards were presented as individuals and groups. Each awardee was given a check for Rs 1 lakh.
Speaking on the occasion, actor Sivakumar said that Karthik, who started the Uzhavar Foundation, is also the grandson of a poor woman farmer. The younger generation should be involved in agriculture. Dad died at 10 months when I was born. My mother raised me. Sivakumar raised me when he told me about his mother that he brought me up in a town with arali and erukkam trees, which is why I am standing in front of you now.
