Kolkata: Gokulam Kerala FC beat Kengare FC of Mumbai 6-2 in the I-League match here on Saturday. Slovenian player Luka Majusen scored a hat trick for Gokul, while Malayalee players MS Jitin, Tahir Zaman and Mohammad Uwais scored one goal each. Gokulam, who beat Real Kashmir 5-1 in the last match, now have 10 points from four matches.
Gokulam took the lead in the third minute through Luka’s goal and continued to dominate throughout the first half. Jitin Gokul, who also scored against Kashmir, took the lead. This is Jith’s second goal in the I-League.
Gokulam then scored the third goal through Tahir Zaman. Emil Benny’s excellent assist led the way. Luka Majusen scored the fourth and fifth goals in the second half. The sixth goal was scored by Nilambur native Muhammad Uwais. Atugran’s left-footed shot from near the box was deflected past the goalie.
Meanwhile, Martin and Lester Fernandes found consolation goals for Kenger. Gokulam Kerala FC will play their next match against Trau FC from Manipur on March 21 at Kalyani Stadium.
