The Israeli military announced Thursday evening that six Israeli hostages have been released in Gaza and are now “on their way to Israel” as part of the exchange agreement between Israel and Palestinian Hamas.
The armed wing of the Islamist movement, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, for its part reported that six hostages had “been handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross in the Gaza Strip”. “The seventh group is now fully released, after two others (hostages) were released earlier,” she added. Three times as many Palestinian prisoners are now to be released from Israeli prisons in the coming hours under the terms of the agreement which expires at 7 a.m. Friday.
