Kozhikode: The Panambra bend and divider where film star Jagathy Sreekumar was injured in an accident is no more. As part of the six-laning of the national highway, this bend, which has caused many accidents, will be avoided. Jagathy Sreekumar had an accident in the early hours of March 10, 2012. The accident happened when the car hit the divider placed in the middle of the road.

Locals here say that Panambra Vala is the place where Jagathi Sreekumar came back to life but many people lost their lives. Locals say that 52 people have lost their lives here in 50 years, including 22 people who died in a bus accident years ago.

Panumbra is the center of danger due to the curve and the eastern side of Koka. Later, when a divider was placed in the middle of the road to reduce the risk, it also caused an accident. The dividers have been demolished. The base road will be laid and the main road will pass over it. The old West Coast Road, which was overgrown with forest, has been leveled to avoid manure and uphill movement in Panumbra. Locals are hoping that accidents will decrease with the removal of the curve, six lane road and service road.
