Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) and his 16 ministers will soon receive an inflation premium of 3,000 – just like all civil servants in Germany. This payment leads to resentment – an opposition member described the project as the “boldest wage increase of the year”.
The “Bild” newspaper asked all cabinet members. 11 of them said they wanted to donate the bonus. Hubertus Heil (Minister of Labour, SPD) and Klara Geywitz (Minister of Construction, SPD), for example, donate to social causes.
Six men are silent on the inflation bonus
According to “Bild”, six ministers – all men – did not say what they wanted to do with the additional money, despite a request. These are:

So three liberals and three social democrats. The six Green Ministers, on the other hand, all announced that they wanted to donate the bonus.
