A 6-year-old girl saved her mother’s life twice by using a smart device to call for help. The sound box, which has other functions in addition to playing music, can make an emergency call when requested by voice command.

Emma Anderson, 27, who lives in the UK, had two serious episodes after a heart transplant. Because of the surgery, her daughter Darcy was left with the responsibility of helping out.

Emma could pass out and feel sick at any time during the recovery period, but she did not have the help of an adult. The daughter, then, knew that she would need to help and that she should learn to call for help.

“I set up the smart device so that if I fainted or felt sick, all she had to do was say, ‘Call for help!'” the mother explained.

After the child’s command, the grandmother, who lives around the corner from the family’s house, would be notified.

The mother recalls that she fainted twice and had Darcy help her to call an ambulance. “I’m so proud of her, she’s a little superstar,” raves Emma.

“Since my transplant, I have a whole new life now. I can actually walk to school, pick her up and come back, something I’ve never been able to do before,” said the mother.

Emma is fully recovered, but that doesn’t mean she’s free of new dangers. Her health situation was very serious.

“Going through a transplant is a very difficult road, it’s not easy. I was on life support and various other treatments after the operation for a long time, and my muscles deteriorated so much that I couldn’t walk anymore,” he said.
