Coimbatore: While five associates of Jamesha Mubin, who died in the Coimbatore car blast incident, have already been arrested, the sixth person was arrested yesterday. Also, based on new information, the police conducted raids at 10 places across the city yesterday. While more than 2,000 policemen have been mobilized for the security of the city, the central government yesterday ordered the NIA to investigate the case.

Engineering graduate Jamesha Mubin, 29, was killed in a car blast in front of the Fort Iswaran temple in Coimbatore on Oct. 23. He, along with accomplices, hatched a conspiracy to carry out blasts at several locations to disrupt the Diwali festival, the police investigation found.

75 kg of explosives were seized from Jamesha Mubin’s house. Five of his accomplices were arrested and booked under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UPA).

In this case, Absar Khan, 28, from Ukkadam, Fort Mett, was arrested yesterday as the sixth person in the ongoing investigation of this car explosion incident. He has been working as an electrician. It has come to light in the investigation that Apsar Khan has purchased chemical materials for making explosives through ‘Amazon’ and ‘Flipkart’. He is cousin of Jamesha Mubin.

Who is the buyer?

Police are actively investigating Absar Khan. Jamesha Mubin and his accomplices procured little by little online, including aluminum powder, potassium nitrate, sulphur, etc. for making the bomb.

The project was started and implemented two years ago. They have been buying chemical products little by little through different people thinking that buying in bulk would raise suspicion.

The police, who have received this information from the arrested persons, are collecting the list of persons who have purchased these chemicals on online sites. Meanwhile, a team of 10 inspectors led by Assistant Commissioners of Coimbatore Raghupathi Raja and Satish Kumar conducted raids at 10 places yesterday. The raid was carried out at Housing Unit, Bothanur, Kuniyamuthar and Selvapuram. The police said that the raid was conducted based on the information given by the arrested persons, the information collected from the ‘CCTV’ footage and the information collected through mobile phone conversations.

Additional protection

Based on the list of people who are suspected of being sympathizers of IS, the terrorist organization, who have already been involved in criminal cases, and those who have been interrogated by intelligence agencies including NIA, it has been revealed that the investigation will be intensive in the coming days. He, who is deaf and unable to speak, was interrogated with the help of an expert who knows sign language, police said.

Yesterday, Chief Minister Stalin suggested to the central government that NIA should investigate the case of the Coimbatore car blast incident which has created a lot of excitement in Tamil Nadu, as there may be international connections. An official order has been issued to conduct an investigation.

Due to the seriousness of the case, a team of NIA officials has already arrived in Coimbatore and is conducting an investigation. In the following days, the investigation will intensify. More people involved in the incident may be arrested and new information will be revealed.
Meanwhile, additional security arrangements have been made in Coimbatore to avoid untoward incidents and to instill confidence among the people.
From other districts of Tamil Nadu, 2,000 policemen have been brought to Coimbatore. They have been engaged in security work at bus stands, railway stations, places where public gathers and road junctions.

First case of Chennai NIA

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has registered a case in connection with the car cylinder blast incident in Coimbatore. Bomb blast victim Jamesha Mubin, 29, found chemical materials seized from the house, information bought ‘online’, police investigation revealed. Jamesha Mubin died in an incident where a gas cylinder exploded in a car in front of the Fort Iswaran Temple, Coimbatore on 23rd. During the search conducted by the police at his house, 75 kg of bomb-making materials including ‘potassium chloride, aluminum nitrate and sulphur’ were seized.

For two years, Jamesha Mubin has bought and stored these items from various ‘online’ sites. Through it, a terrible conspiracy was planned to be carried out, police investigation revealed. Following this, Tamil Nadu intelligence department police have started monitoring the products sold online. They plan to trace the online companies that sold such items and investigate them.

In this case, the central government has given permission for the National Investigation Agency to investigate the case related to the Coimbatore incident. Following this, a case has been registered yesterday in connection with this incident at the NIA police station in Purasaivakam, Chennai. This is the first case of this recently started police station in Chennai, which is being investigated.

Cooperation with NIA: DGP confirmed

Coimbatore DGP, Shailendrababu’s interview: In the car blast case, the Coimbatore police acted quickly and found out the person who died in the incident. As of today, six people have been arrested. Evidence related to the case has been collected and handed over to the court. Five people who were initially arrested have been taken into police custody and interrogated. Based on the information received, further investigation is underway. Rewards have been given to officers who have performed well in a short period of time and mobilized resources. The Chief Minister has suggested that the case may be handed over to the NIA.
The Home Secretary has ordered the case to be handed over to the NIA. Based on that, I, the Commissioner and the officers, NIA, consulted with the officers. They will conduct further investigation in this case. The Tamil Nadu Police will provide all necessary cooperation and assistance to them. We will hand over all the evidence we have to the NIA. The DGP said this. When asked about BJP leader Annamalai’s statement on the social networking site that the central government had issued a precautionary alert on October 18 regarding the incident, the DGP did not respond. . Commissioner Balakrishnan, who was nearby, said, “There was no such alert.”
