Inflation, energy crisis and pandemic – the Germans are in austerity mode. This also affects travel plans, as a study by the opinion research institute Yougov shows. According to this, 26 percent of people who regularly went on a skiing holiday before Corona want to forego it this year due to the increased prices.

Most of the 38 percent of skiers in Germany also want to make compromises when it comes to snow – for example with après ski, the destination or the duration of the holiday. Instead of traveling to trendy ski areas like Ischgl or Kitzbühel, many ski vacationers are content with a more modest winter vacation this year.

Ski resorts in Europe for every budget

Due to the rising cost of living, the prices for hotels and restaurants in European ski resorts have also risen. On average, skiers pay 50 euros for a day ski pass in Europe. According to the Vienna study, most people want to hit the slopes in their own country. There are also ski areas in other countries that are worth a trip – for every budget. For example, did you know that there is great tobogganing in Greece or that a helicopter can take you to the slopes in Bulgaria?

We will show you these and other ski hotspots throughout Europe in the photo gallery – of course also directly with the most important information for your travel planning.
