More than six months ago, Norwegian ski star Aleksander Aamodt Kilde suffered a serious fall. He was on the road to recovery – but now he has suffered a setback.

Aleksander Aamodt Kilde is in hospital again. The ski star announced this on Tuesday. The Norwegian published a video on Instagram showing him in a hospital bed. In the video, Kilde can be seen raising the back of the bed. He then says: “If this is the most exciting part of your day, you know where I am right now.”

Kilde smiles in the video and tries to remain optimistic. However, it is a setback at the wrong time for the 31-year-old. The alpine ski ace actually wanted to work on his comeback for the new season after his serious fall in January (read more about the horror accident here) on the Lauberhorn, but the Norwegian’s shoulder is causing problems again.

Kilde admits that his injury feels like a “never-ending story.” He explains: “I’ve been taking antibiotics for three weeks now. I’ve already got another infection and it’s not all over yet. Right now I just have to keep fighting and keep doing the right things, but at the moment it’s a battle.”

His fiancée, American alpine ski racer Mikaela Shiffrin, posted a blue heart and a bandaged red one under the video. Shiffrin’s mother, Eileen, wrote: “You are a lesson to all of us in how to deal with adversity with grace, strength and positivity. Hang in there, Aleks.”

Colleague Atle Lie McGrath wrote under the clip: “The only man I think could get through this with a smile.” Olympic downhill champion Corinne Suter also wrote: “All the best.”

At the end of July, Kilde reported from the hospital and explained that he was struggling with pain in his operated shoulder and reported on his infection. He is still dealing with the consequences. It is not clear when he will make his comeback.
