LE FIGARO. – How was the process of appointing the general manager?
Lorenzo BINI SMAGHI. – After Frédéric Oudéa’s announcement that he would not stand for re-election, in May we launched the selection process for a new general manager. Everything was done in a very professional manner and in line with the expectations of Societe Generale shareholders. The Board of Directors, comprising independents and three employee representatives, was involved in the process.

Two years ago, we asked Frédéric Oudéa to prepare his succession and to propose two names of candidates internally. We have also opened the procedure to candidates outside the bank. In total, the appointments committee examined around ten internal and external applications, from France and abroad.
