The SLC Invitational Twenty20 Cricket Final was organized by the Sri Lanka Cricket Association with the aim of providing adequate training to the players in the Twenty20 cricket tournament ahead of the Asia Cup Cricket (E20) tournament. It will be held at Premadasa Stadium on Monday night in Minolli.
Gusal Mendis led SLC in this final. SLC led by Dhananjaya de Silva for the Reds. The Blues will also be playing.
4 teams participated in the SLC. The Reds and Blues qualified for the finals with 2 wins each and 4 points each in the Invitation Twenty20 cricket tournament.
Based on the batting and bowling abilities displayed by the players in the recent matches, the Reds team looks strong.
Captain Gusal Mendis is the top run-getter with a total of 150 runs in 3 matches including a half-century.
Vanindu Hazaranga de Silva from his team, L. Cruzpulle, Banukka Rajapaksa, Kaminda Mendis have all shown their skills in at least one tournament.
In bowling, Asitha Fernando (8 wickets), Mahish Dikshana, Vanindu Hazaranga de Silva and Madisha Patirana have worked efficiently.
Ashen Bhandara, regular captain Sarith Asalanka, Uthara Igalakamage and Satira Samarawickrama have shown their batting skills on behalf of the Blues team.
Praveen Jayawickrama, Sumintha Lakshan Fernando and Samika Karunaratne have shone to some extent in the bowling.
However, it has been announced that Blues key players Charit Asalanka and Dhanushka Gunathilak will not play tomorrow’s final as they are suffering from fever. Dhananjaya de Silva will play as captain in place of Charit Asalanka.
