< h2 > "Slow Horses" Season 6 to Be Darkest, Heaviest Yet, with Return of Key Cast </ h2 > Apple TV’s "Slow Horses" Season 6, premiering Wednesday, Sept. 16, will be the show’s darkest and heaviest installment yet, according to director Adam Randall. The season, based on Mick Herron’s novels Joe Country and Slough House, sees the Slough House crew “on the run” as they face a deadly game of retaliation and revenge, with a lot more death and a lot more threats, Randall told Radio Times. The season marks the first to adapt two books rather than one, expanding the series’ narrative scope.

The trailer, unveiled by Apple TV, teases high-stakes action and a chilling atmosphere, with Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman) confronting Diana Taverner (Kristin Scott Thomas) over the mysterious deaths of his team. Do you know anything about why my Slow Horses keep turning up dead? Lamb asks in the trailer, which also features the return of Olivia Cooke as Sid Baker, a character believed killed in the show’s first season. Her reappearance, alongside Rosalind Eleazar’s Louisa Guy and Hugo Weaving’s Frank Harkness, has drawn particular attention.

The season shifts the action beyond Slough House, exploring the British urban wilderness of bowling alleys and service stations, a setting Randall called “s**t England.” This new environment amplifies tension, with characters on the precipice of something dreadful and dealing with their demons.
