The stevedoring company SLP, consignee and regular line agent located in the Port of Bilbao (Spain), has agreed with Kalmar to renew its fleet of high-capacity forklifts, with the aim of having the best infrastructure and the most efficient equipment at the service of its customers.

Specifically, the contract will involve an investment of 1,920,000 euros and provides for the purchase of five Kalmar forklifts model DCG330-12 with a capacity of 33 tons. Regarding the models selected by the operator, it is worth mentioning that they are known for offering the latest advances in safety and energy efficiency.

The company, which already had several Kalmar brand equipment, is confident that the new machinery will contribute to improving efficiency in operations and will allow it to offer a more reliable service to its customers, as a stevedoring company in the Bilbao enclave.

Regarding the activity of SLP, established on January 31, 1996, it handled 2.32 million tons last year, it has nearly 150,000 m² under concession in the Port of Bilbao, of which 44,000 m² are covered. The facilities have a 2.6 kilometer long docking line with drafts of up to 20 meters.

SLP offers general cargo, project and bulk handling services and has extensive equipment for loading and unloading any type of vessel.

For its part, the Port of Bilbao has hired the Madrid consulting firm Idom Consulting, Engineering, Architecture to carry out a competitiveness analysis of the Biscayan enclave.
