Small feast; Nine days vacation in UAE

by time news

Federal government agencies in the UAE will be given nine days off to observe Eid. The holiday for the private sector will be five days. The holiday will start from the 29th of Ramadan. Sharjah has officially declared a nine-day holiday.

Earlier, the UAE announced a holiday for government agencies and the private sector from Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3. However, the UAE cabinet has given permission to government agencies to make it a week. The decision to give a week off comes as the first festival since the major relaxation of Kovid restrictions came into force. Although the official holiday is from April 30 to May 6, government agencies are effectively closed for nine days as the next few days are weekends.

However, Sharjah has declared these nine days as official holidays. After a nine-day holiday, government agencies will be open only on Mondays, May 9th. If the Eid falls after the 30th of Ramadan, private companies will get five consecutive days off, including the weekend just before.
