The small plane is a single-engine, four-seater light aircraft manufactured by Italian company Tecnam.

Police in the nearby city of Oldenburg confirmed that the plane was carrying two people at the time of the accident. One person was killed in the impact, while rescue personnel launched an active search for a second individual reported missing, according to the German news agency dpa.
