Small soundbar from Sonos in the test

by time news

Sonos, the specialist for wireless streaming loudspeakers, announces offspring. A new soundbar with the baptismal name Ray enriches the manufacturer’s device family from this week on. Sonos has had two larger soundbar models in its range for some time. The largest, called Arc, is suitable for television sets with diagonal dimensions of 55 inches, i.e. for veritable home cinema. The playback of Dolby Atmos with built-in sound converters, which reflect against the ceiling, underlines this claim. A smaller family member, called Beam 2, also understands 3D sound in Dolby Atmos, but creates the spatial illusion with purely virtual means.

And what can the new Ray do? It should, says Sonos, refine the sound to the image in smaller rooms. Because the delicate soundbar is just 56 centimeters wide, and with its price of 299 euros, it suits manageable budgets. Is it worth investing in the compact entry-level model? We asked Ray for audition.
