In a nursery on the territory of the Gatchina district of the Leningrad region, Rosselkhoznadzor employees discovered a dangerous virus – plum potivirus sharki (smallpox), which can destroy from five to 100 percent of the crop, the press service of the department reported.

To stop the spread of the virus, the entire garden will be rooted. In addition, quarantine has been introduced throughout the entire area of ​​the fruit nursery – which is 4.4 hectares – for three years it is forbidden to grow plums, as well as peaches and apricots, for which this virus is also dangerous.
