As part of a large-scale study conducted by the Seismological Research Center of the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction (AzUAC), special sensors will be installed in various buildings across the country, including Baku.

As Day.Az reports with reference to XəzərXəbər, this was stated by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Mechanics, Director of the Research Center for Earthquake Resistant Engineering AzUAS Azer Gasymzade.

According to him, these “smart” devices will help monitor the condition of load-bearing structures in real time and promptly identify deviations from design standards.

“24-hour monitoring will allow us to identify potential risks in advance and prevent possible problems. As part of the project, we will measure the response of key buildings to seismic activity and check whether it meets design standards. This will help extend the life of housing and reduce insurance payments,” noted A. Gasimzade.

The professor added that work on the implementation of the new system has already begun, and in the near future it is planned to hold meetings with representatives of relevant departments to discuss all aspects of the project.
