SMS fraud, customers who lost $ 140,000 in ten days, OCBC warns

OCBC Bank has asked customers to be wary of fraudulent text messages such as those sent by OCBC Bank.

The 26 customers caught in such scams lost 140,000 silver in the ten days from December 8 to 17.

“So far in December alone, 45 fake websites have been identified and removed. This is more than eight per cent of the fake websites that are removed every month, ”said OCBC Bank.

The bank said it was sending fraudulent text messages claiming there was a problem with the bank account or credit card.

The fake SMS contained a link leading to a fraudulent website.

The OCBC Bank said that the fake details of the bank account and keywords were being asked on the fake website similar to OCBC Bank.

“OCBC never sends such text messages or contacts for reactivation of a bank account stating that the bank account will be closed or disabled.

“The OCBC is in direct contact to avoid fraud in such matters,” the bank explained.

OCBC, meanwhile, said it was assisting in a police investigation to help customers who had lost money in recent fraud cases.

It also said it was taking steps to prevent such scams.

But OCBC Bank has painfully urged its customers to be cautious as the chances of recovering money from a bank account are very slim.
