Sms-traffic of operators decreased by tens of percent

The number of sms that Vimpelcom subscribers sent to each other in the first quarter of 2021 decreased by 10% compared to January – March 2020, follows from the operator’s materials, which Vedomosti has read. Compared to the beginning of 2019, this figure has decreased by 41%, they say: “Small surges are observed in December and March – this is probably due to the large number of congratulations on the holidays that fall on these months.”

“The mobile Internet in Russia is one of the cheapest in the world, so some users use it even to make calls, and with the advent of various instant messengers, such a service as sms messages is gradually becoming a thing of the past,” VimpelCom explains the reasons for the decline in interest to sms.
