A sharp confrontation was recorded tonight (Monday) in the Knesset plenum, after MK Bezalel Smutrich demanded that Ram Speaker Mansour Abbas condemn the shooting attack that took place last night in the Old City of Jerusalem – while Abbas was next to him in the Knesset chair. Abbas said in response that Smutrich was “immoral.”

“I was angered by the fact that you are unable to utter the words: ‘I condemn the murder of Eli Kay the 4th in Jerusalem.’ In fact, you will give up the God of his blood, that’s what Jews say, “Smutrich told Abbas.” Say it in Hebrew, say it in Arabic, just stop scattering a smokescreen that we are against violence against innocents on both sides. Say simple and clear words that yesterday there was a murder in Jerusalem and we strongly condemn it. “
Abbas immediately attacked in response: “If there is anything that has influenced me in the history of the Jewish people, it is the blood libels and false accusations against the Jews – and that is what you are doing today. You are taking the role of the enemies of the Jewish people and making false accusations against Mansour.” He said, “In the moral and ethical arena, you have no chance in front of me, period. You are plotting difficult plots.”
