According to second-quarter financial results released in July (the month in which the company lost 25% on the stock market, as reported by Reuters), the Santa Monica, California-based company missed its revenue targets due to the ‘record inflation and growing competition from rival apps such as TikTok which have hurt the demand for advertising, while recording user growth beyond Wall Street expectations.

On that occasion, the company stated its intention to significantly slow down hiring, invest in its advertising business and find new sources of income, to grow at a faster pace. According to the numbers of the quarterly, daily active users on Snapchat increased by 18% compared to the previous year, reaching 347 million.
