Traffic is slowed on most trains departing and arriving from Gare du Nord at the end of the afternoon, informs the SNCF on its website. The storms, which affected the entire northern part of the country on Thursday, damaged some power supply cables, she said.

All the trains, scheduled to depart from Gare du Nord this Thursday between 4.30 p.m. and 6 p.m., left with a delay ranging from 45 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes. The SNCF was even forced to modify certain routes and itineraries due to bad weather.

Trees on the tracks complicate traffic

Traffic between Creil (Oise) and Amiens (Somme) is interrupted and causes most of the disruption on the Gare du Nord network. “The circulation of trains is interrupted between Creil and Amiens, in both directions, due to a lack of power supply linked to stormy episodes”, explains the SNCF.

Other disturbances are to be noted in France, in particular in Dijon (Côte-d’Or), where the presence of obstacles on the tracks caused delays of several hours this Thursday. The traffic of TER trains is for example disrupted on the Paris – Dijon – Lyon line due to the presence of trees on the voices, said the SNCF.

This Thursday, 36 French departments in the north-east of France are placed on orange vigilance for thunderstorms. They will be 40 for the day on Friday. Traffic could be further disrupted in the face of bad weather and forecasted gusts of wind. Only the west of the country should be spared, according to Météo France forecasts.
