Big mess on the TGV Sud-Est line. Following a signaling fault, but above all the complete breakdown of a TGV at Miribel (Ain) at the level of the expressway, traffic is very severely disrupted this Thursday evening bound for Paris.

If almost all the trains left from Gare de Lyon, apart from the one for Marseille, which was to leave at 8:26 p.m., but was 1:30 a.m. late, this is not the case for the arriving trains. The one from Annecy, which was due to arrive at 7:14 p.m., was nearly 4 hours late before 9 p.m., as was another from Grenoble. Other trains from Marseille, Hyères, Nice, Lyon, Perpignan or even Barcelona showed delays of more than an hour at the same time.

At 6:08 p.m., the SNCF informed on its website “that a train at Miribel, between Mâcon and Lyon St Exupéry, is disrupting the movement of trains on the South East high-speed line”. Having been immobilized for more than two hours, the train was finally rescued by another TGV and was taken to Mâcon station.

Contacted by Le Parisien, the SNCF confirms that the breakdown of this train is “one of the causes” of the major disruptions on the TGV Sud-Est line. She also tells us that a malfunction on a signaling panel, which occurred before the train was stopped, was the trigger for the slowdowns on the track.
