SNCF strike: traffic forecasts for Tuesday, October 18

The Minister of Transport, Clément Beaune, had predicted “strong disturbances” in the trains. They will finally be weaker than announced, according to the traffic forecasts published by the SNCF on Monday, for the day of Tuesday, day of interprofessional strike at the call in particular of the CGT. If the traffic will only be “slightly disturbed” on the TGV lines, it will be disturbed on the TER and Intercités networks.

On the TGV network, the SNCF expects “almost normal” traffic in the Nordl’East and the South East. It will be “slightly disturbed” in the area Atlantic and on the network Ouigo. International traffic will be normal between France and Italy and the Thalys“quasi-normal” on Lyria, between France and Germanyand “slightly disturbed” on theEurostar et between France and Spain.

In the regions, the SNCF provides on average 1 train out of 2 on the TER network. The details are communicated by each regional branch of the SNCF for each of the regions. On the Intercités side, one train out of two on average will run on Tuesday: 1 train out of 2 on Paris-Limoges-Toulouse3 trains out of 4 out of Paris-Clermont1 train out of 4 out of Bordeaux-Marseille1 train out of 2 out of Nantes-Bordeaux and 0 train on Clermont-Beziers. Traffic will be normal on Nantes-Lyon et Toulouse-Hendaye.

The national night trains and the one doing Paris-Vienna-Paris will not circulate in the nights of Monday and Tuesday, also announces the SNCF.

Traffic disrupted also in Île-de-France

In Île-de-France, the RATP provides for “almost normal” traffic in the metro and on the tramway, “disturbed” on the RER A and the RER B with three out of four trains. Regarding buses, the RATP expects “disturbed” traffic with two out of three buses. The SNCF, which also takes care of the RER in Île-de-France, also makes its forecasts there: it foresees 1 train out of 2 north of the line of RER B (which it manages, the RATP having the rest) and 1 out of 2 trains on the RER C. On the RER Donly 1 train out of 3 will run, with no train between Châtelet-les-Halles and Paris-Gare-de-Lyon.

On the Transiliens side, entirely managed by SNCF, expect normal traffic on the K-lineat 3 out of 4 trains on the ligne P2 trains out of 3 on the ligne U3 trains out of 5 on the E-line1 out of 2 trains on the H-lines, N et Rand 1 train out of 3 on the lines J et L. Traffic will be normal on the tram lines T11 et T13. On the line T4expect 1 tram every 15 minutes.

Elsewhere in the region, local transport may also be more or less disrupted depending on the city.

Possibility to change your ticket for free

Passengers on canceled flights can “benefit from a refund or exchange free of charge on all trains where there is still space”, explains the SNCF, affirming that “TGV and Intercités travelers concerned by the cancellation of their train have been contacted by email or SMS.

The strike call was launched on Thursday by the CGT, the first representative union at SNCF, and Sud-Rail, the third, to demand wage increases and protest against requisitions in the energy sector. The strike will not be limited to public transport: truck drivers will notably join the movement, as will territorial civil servants or certain private sector employees.
