SNCF: there are still 10 million places available this summer

by time news

Critics against the new SNCF Connect application, which experienced many bugs when it was launched, did nothing. SNCF is having a record summer with already 14 million long-distance tickets sold for July and August, 10% more than in 2019, just before the pandemic. But do not panic for Augustians who do not yet have tickets for their holidays.

If many trains are full, 10 million places are still available, including “two thirds in August”, assures the operator in a press release, relayed by BFM TV. 60% of tickets were purchased on the SNCF Connect application. The company also ensures “that three out of four long-distance train tickets are sold at a reduced price this summer, whether through the effect of the Avantage card or the low prices offered. »

The emerging attractiveness of the Grand-Est

No surprise: Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux, Marseille and even Avignon are the most attractive destinations in terms of volume. But a surprise guest is appearing in the popular destinations of the French this summer: the Grand-Est region. The cities of Reims (+63%), Nancy (+56%) and Metz (+50%) are experiencing a boom and are attracting more and more people.

In its press release, the operator also specifies that reservations made at D-30 on long distance have increased by five points compared to last summer, while short-term stays (less than three days) point to the end of their noses, a 3% increase. 2 million TER tickets at reduced prices have been put on sale by the regions.

The SNCF also confirms the success of dematerialized holiday vouchers with 45,000 places paid for with this service for reservations this summer, popular with families.
