SNCF: traffic interrupted this weekend after a derailment between Vierzon and Châteauroux

by time news

Travel plans completely turned upside down. SNCF traffic between Vierzon (Cher) and Châteauroux (Indre), on the Paris-Toulouse line, will be interrupted in both directions all weekend due to the derailment on Friday of a freight train which did not injured, announced the SNCF.

“There was an incident on a freight train in Issoudun” (Indre), the company explained on Friday evening. “We have some train cars that have derailed and are blocking train traffic between Vierzon and Châteauroux”, according to the same source.

“There are no injuries” in this accident, the cause of which has not been established immediately, said the SNCF, whose teams have “organized a pick-up by bus” for TER passengers between Vierzon and Chateauroux.

Confused passengers

As for travelers on Intercités trains linking Paris to Toulouse and vice versa, they will be taken back to their station of origin.

On site, “SNCF Réseau teams organize the clearing of the tracks”, operations which “we estimate that they should last all weekend”, according to the public carrier, which invites travelers whose train passed on the portion Vierzon-Châteauroux to “postpone their trip”.

This accident comes at the start of a weekend strike by SNCF controllers, which forced the company to cancel 60% of its TGV and Intercités from Friday to Sunday.
