It’s already time to prepare for the winter holidays. This Sunday and Monday, SNCF announced in an email sent to its customers that ticket sales for this period will open this week, on Wednesday November 15.

A date from which travelers will be able to book their SNCF tickets from February 10 to March 24, 2024 and thus organize their winter holidays. As a reminder, school holidays extend from February 10 to March 11 depending on the different zones.

Usually, tickets for TGV inOui and Intercités trains are available four months in advance but for the holidays, the rules change. “For the Christmas, winter, spring and summer holiday periods, an exceptional sales opening on a fixed date is planned,” indicates the SNCF Connect website.

Wednesday November 15 in the morning, it will therefore be possible to reserve tickets for the TGV inOui, the Intercités and the TGV Lyria. Concerning Ouigo, train tickets have already been bookable since October 4.

Opening hours not communicated

If the opening time of the sale has not been specified, it should take place early in the morning as was the case on October 4, when train tickets for the holidays went on sale the end of the year.

Like every year, first come first served. The French public railway company does not fail to point out that tickets go quickly and that reserving the first tickets on sale allows you to have more choice of timetables, to obtain seats at a better price or to maximize your chances to be seated next to loved ones for people traveling in groups.

On October 4, when train tickets went on sale for the end-of-year holidays, the SNCF Connect site and application displayed numerous bugs throughout the morning and prevented thousands of passengers from booking. their train ticket due to a “peak connection on the site”, according to the railway company.
