The former deputy director of risk of the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (Ungrd), Sneyder Pinilla, appeared before the media on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 to apologize to the country for his alleged participation in a scandalous case of corruption related to the awarding of a contract for the acquisition of tank trucks in La Guajira. According to estimates by the Comptroller’s Office, this embezzlement would have left a detriment of $47,000 million.

In an emotional appearance, Pinilla expressed his deep regret for the acts committed and asked for forgiveness from Colombian society. Accompanied by his lawyer, former anti-corruption prosecutor Luis Gustavo Moreno, the former official promised to collaborate with the authorities to clarify the facts and seek justice.

I want to apologize to the country and society for the acts that were presented. I thank the Prosecutor’s Office because as of today I already have a security scheme. We are waiting for approval for my family and son,” she said.

Pinilla announced that he has a security scheme from the Attorney General’s Office and is willing to seek a principle of opportunity with the accusing entity. This strategy, similar to that of his former boss, involves collaborating with justice in exchange for procedural benefits.
