SNL Weekend Update: Melania Doc & Kristi Noem Skewered

Colin Jost compared the first lady to a certain green witch, while Michael Che reminded everyone of Noem’s dog-killing past

Saturday Night Live‘s Weekend Update segment tackled the recently released Melania Trump documentary and controversial claims made by South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem regarding a shooting in Minneapolis.

The $75 million documentary, simply titled melania, has drawn scrutiny, with some crew members reportedly disassociating themselves from the project. Michael Che pointed out that the documentary was directed by Brett Ratner, known for his work on the Rush Hour film series.

“That explains this scene,” Che said, before playing a clip featuring a scene from Rush Hour, with Detective James Carter (Chris Tucker) questioning Jackie Chan’s character-with Melania Trump’s face superimposed-about her ability to speak English.

Che then shifted focus to the shooting last week in Minneapolis of Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse, by federal immigration agents.

“Homeland Security’s initial review of the Alex Pretti shooting does not indicate that he attacked officers, wich directly contradicts claims made by Kristi Noem,” Che stated. Noem had previously asserted that officers were justified in shooting Pretti ten times in the back while unarmed, stating, “This looks like a situation where an individual arrived at the scene to inflict maximum damage on individuals and to kill law enforcement.”

Che joked about the DHS’s findings: “None of that realy matters to Kristi Noem. She’ll open fire even if you’re a good boy.”

Noem previously admitted in her memoir to shooting and killing one of her puppies due to its misbehavior.
