An unreleased new album featuring Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre arrives later this year
The work follows “Doggystyle”, which was released in 1993 and was successful in sales. It was the first work of the duo.
It is 30 years ago “Doggstyle.”
After Eminem there is Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre is back. The duo will release a new album titled “Missionary” on December 13th. It will follow the rapper’s first work “Doggystyle”, released in 1993.
Little is known about the new project, but it will be produced entirely by Dre and will feature famous musicians such as Sting, Jelly Roll and 50 Cent. The album, which will be released by Death Row Records (owned by Snoop Dogg) has been in the works for over a year.
The announcement was made on the Instagram of the 53-year-old rapper, this Wednesday, October 30 and is presented as a sequel to their first work together. Also released by Death Row Records, during the Dr. Dre era, “Doggystyle” emerged as a breakthrough hit that helped define the style of rap music on the US West Coast. At the time, it was the fastest selling rap album.
Dre said that “Missionary” differs from the previous one, “because it will show a different level of maturity”, both in Snoop’s lyrics and in the rapper’s music. ”I feel like this is one of the best songs I’ve ever done in my career,” he admitted in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
In the teaser shared by Dogg, we see two young people arriving at the door of a house, armed with a book of Mormon and ready to preach the religion. As soon as they ring the doorbell, they are surprised by a woman in lingerie who screams at them and they run away. From the images you can see that there is a collection of lyrics full of barbs, mixed with humor.

We’re diving into the exciting news about the upcoming album from the legendary duo Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, titled “Missionary,” set to be released on December 13th. Lisa, thank you for joining us!
Dr. Reid: Thank you for having me! The buzz around this album is electric, and I’m thrilled to discuss it.
Host: Let’s kick things off with the significance of this release. It’s been 30 years since “Doggystyle” hit the charts. What does that represent for fans and for the music industry?
Dr. Reid: “Doggystyle” was not just an album; it was a cultural phenomenon. It defined West Coast hip-hop and shaped the landscape of rap music in the early ’90s. Releasing “Missionary” 30 years later is like a historical callback, showcasing the evolution of both artists and the genre. Fans are not only revisiting nostalgia but also getting a fresh perspective on how Snoop and Dre have adapted.
Host: Absolutely! The anticipation of this project is palpable, especially since it’s produced entirely by Dr. Dre. What impact does his production have on the album’s potential sound and success?
Dr. Reid: Dr. Dre is a master of his craft. His ability to blend various genres while maintaining a signature sound is unparalleled. With contributions from prominent artists like Sting, Jelly Roll, and 50 Cent, we can expect a fusion of styles that not only honors their roots but also pushes boundaries. It’s exciting to see how Dre will integrate these different influences.
Host: Speaking of collaborations, how do you think the involvement of artists from various genres will resonate with audiences?
Dr. Reid: Collaborations are crucial in today’s music scene. They help bridge genres and expand listener reach. Having diverse artists on “Missionary” can attract both hip-hop fans and those from other musical backgrounds. This kind of cross-pollination enriches the album and invites new fans into the fold, which is vital for any long-standing artist.
Host: That’s an interesting point. The album is being released under Death Row Records, now owned by Snoop Dogg. How significant is this move for the legacy of the label and the artists connected to it?
Dr. Reid: It’s incredibly symbolic! Death Row Records represents a golden era of hip-hop. By releasing the album under this banner, Snoop Dogg is not only paying homage to that legacy but also asserting the label’s relevance in contemporary music. It’s a revival of sorts, showing that the roots are still strong and can thrive alongside modern influences.
Host: You mentioned the announcement was made on Instagram. How important is social media in shaping the release and marketing of music today?
Dr. Reid: Social media is transformative. It engages fans directly, creates a buzz before the official release, and allows artists to shape their narrative. Platforms like Instagram not only keep fans informed but create a communal excitement around the release. It’s a powerful tool for building anticipation and connecting with audiences on a more personal level.
Host: With all these elements combined, what are your overall expectations for “Missionary”?
Dr. Reid: I expect it to be a celebration of hip-hop history while pushing the envelope forward. It’s likely to resonate with both old-school fans and newcomers. Given the pedigree of the artists involved and the careful production by Dre, “Missionary” has the potential to make waves in the industry and could potentially be one of the standout albums of the year.
