The slippery sections of the road are cleaned and sprinkled with anti-slip materials. In order to improve driving conditions, 68 units of winter service equipment are involved in road maintenance works.
Driving conditions are difficult on the section of the Vidzeme highway from the Rauna turn to Veclaicene, the entire section of the Riga bypass (Salaspils – Babīte), the Bauska highway section from Riga to Dzimtmis, as well as on the Jelgava highway and the Liepāja highway section from Riga to Mazblīdene.
Driving on the Ventspils highway and Rēzekne highway from Stolbovka to Terehova is also difficult.
Difficult driving on regional roads is difficult in the vicinity of Ventspils, Talsu, Tukums, Dobele, Jelgava, Ogre, Valka, Alūksne, Gulbene, Balvu and Daugavpils.
LVC reminds that even after carrying out maintenance works, ice can form on the roads again, these works are carried out to improve the condition of the roads as much as possible, but they cannot prevent the weather typical of winter.
Drivers are invited to take the weather into account when planning trips, to allow extra time for the road, to choose a driving speed that corresponds to the condition of the road surface, as well as a safe distance.
