The Malaysia U20 Development League is showcasing some intense basketball action, with Semir Sembilan’s victory being one of the highlights. Who ended the Wild Marlin’s winning streak this week? Semir Sembilan, led by former national player Tan Jianhong, defeated the Wild Marlins, ending their three-game winning streak in the men’s Group B match.
Semir Sembilan’s Victory Over Marlins
The match in Kuala Lumpur saw Monkin Qunli defeat the Wild Marlins with a score of 80-62. Five players from Monkin Qunli scored in double digits, securing their consecutive victory. Xu Mingyuan led the team with 16 points. Xiao Zhenliang contributed significantly with 10 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 interceptions.
Despite Tan Yu Xiang’s impressive double-double of 10 points and 19 rebounds, the Wild Marlins couldn’t overcome their opponent’s strong offense.
Malacca Kirin’s Dominance in Group A
Defending champion Malacca Kirin continued their winning streak in Group A by defeating Kuala Lumpur Hornbills 114-70. Their strong performance in the second quarter, where they scored 33 points, set them apart.
Xiao Zhiyong led Kirin with 29 points and 4 interceptions, followed by Dai Zhangxian with 16 points and Huang Manbiao with 12 points. For the Hornbills, Li Yongding scored 16 points and secured 5 rebounds.

Pili KeeMing secured a 79-65 victory against the Falcons. Cai Changcong’s 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 interceptions played a crucial role in KeeMing’s win, with Liu Weiliang adding 13 points.

Selangor EST’s Triumphant Start in Women’s Division
Selangor EST, the defending champion in the women’s group, began their title defense with a decisive victory over Selangor selection team, winning 72-38.
Despite having only seven players, Selangor EST dominated the first quarter, scoring 31-9 and establishing a significant lead. The Snow Selection team showed resilience in the third quarter but couldn’t maintain their momentum.

Pan Simian, an Indian player, shone for Selangor EST with 19 points, 7 rebounds, 7 interceptions, and 4 assists. Zheng Xiaoyun and Ye Yurou each contributed 16 points.
