Being able to work in Thailand is a big deal, so I was very happy when I was approached. I was nervous and under pressure, but more than that, I was having fun.
Kai, the character I played, is artistic, clumsy, and can’t be honest, but he is a character who is clear about what he wants to do. She also has a slightly selfish side to Souta, saying, “I want to say something, but I won’t.”
It was because of Souta’s pure and simple personality that I was able to naturally be myself as Kai, and for that I am truly grateful.
The director loved Japan and was a loving person who smiled at the monitor while filming.
I was confused at first because of the different shooting styles, but I think I was able to take some great images in the end.
He also tries to speak in Thai, and has manny facial expressions that Koji Mukai, the normal Snowman, would not be able to show.
I would be happy if this film becomes a masterpiece that can be proudly listed on one’s profile, and if many people can relate to it.

When I was offered the role of Souta,I was a little nervous because the character was the complete opposite of me,but I was willing to put a lot of money into this work. I believed that this work would definitely change my life. However, as I was working on the script, my anxiety increased, but when I read the book with Mukai-kun for a costume fitting, I heard his voice as Kai, and my immediate concern.I heard from the director that Souta’s personality is “serious and methodical,” but the moment he met Kai,you could see his slightly clumsy side and imperfections,and it was fascinating. I’m sure Kai, with his freedom and flexibility, is the ultimate key to expanding Souta’s life.The Thai crew, including the director, seemed to be having fun filming, which was great.Even though there were cultural and language barriers for the Japanese team, there were many moments when we were able to overcome them without surrendering and being one, and I think these are etched into the film as good scenes. I’m really looking forward to seeing it finished!

September was a busy month for filming this year. I am ashamed to say that I was not fully prepared for my trip to Thailand. There were many things that went wrong and filming in an unknown country, but the smiles and hospitality of the Thai team, including Champ (the director’s nickname), and the mutual assistance of the Japanese team helped to keep the peace among the team I am grateful for that.
It was a barometer for both of us whether everyone in Thailand and Japan could work with a smile. Win Morisaki’s big smile and Koji Mukai’s joy, always trying his best to entertain everyone, created a shining and positive atmosphere on the set. I think Mr. Morisaki, who is originally from Myanmar, and Mr. Mukai, who has mixed roots in Thailand, were the two who were able to guide us as they were good at communicating with people who spoke different languages .
On his set, Mr. morisaki is rather quiet and reflects on his role, while Mr. Mukai, perhaps trying to hide his embarrassment (?), smiles at the staff around him. Even if you look at it thinking that the characters are in contrast to their roles, as soon as the actual performance begins, the delicate interactions begin. When we were preparing for our first role, Morisaki-san and Mukai-san practiced together, discussing how to express the lines naturally, and Mukai-san, who also provided an interpreter, made suggestions to the director. There were many such cases. I want you to pay attention to the fact that in scenes were the two of them are alone, their facial expressions and their way of speaking are slightly different from scenes with other cast members.
Also,look forward to the normal language and music life between Thailand and Japan! An unfinished love song that connects Souta and Kai,something that can be understood even if it cannot be expressed in words. I definitely believe that the sad voice of the song will connect with the “feelings of longing for someone” in the hearts of the audience.

Weerachit tunjira (W.T.): Thank you for having me! The idea of bringing together two distinct cultures through a love story has always intrigued me. I’ve always believed that love transcends borders, and I wanted to explore that by creating a narrative that intertwines the everyday lives of these two cities. The contrast between Tokyo’s bustling life and Bangkok’s vibrant culture creates a rich backdrop for the characters’ journey.
T.E.: That’s a beautiful sentiment. The film follows Sota, a researcher, and Kai, a cameraman and musician, as they reunite in Bangkok. can you tell us more about how you developed these characters?
W.T.: Absolutely! Sota is earnest and methodical, while Kai embodies a more free-spirited and artistic nature. The contrast between them plays a crucial role in the story. As they navigate their feelings and past connections, they help each other grow. Sota learns to embrace spontaneity, while Kai discovers the importance of being honest with himself. This dynamic enriches the narrative and showcases the theme of mutual revelation.
T.E.: Speaking of the characters, how did you choose Koji Mukai and Win Morisaki for these roles? What did they bring to the project?
W.T.: Both actors have unique backgrounds that resonate with the film’s themes. Koji has roots in Thailand,which brought authenticity to his portrayal of Kai. His artistic expression in the character is genuinely commendable. Win, on the other hand, had to step out of his comfort zone to play the serious Souta. Their chemistry is palpable, and they both brought their own interpretations to the roles, making the characters feel real and relatable.
T.E.: It’s clear that both actors took their roles very seriously. Koji mentioned feeling nervous due to the pressure, but also found joy in the experience. How did you help them navigate those challenges?
W.T.: My approach has always emphasized collaboration. I wanted them to feel comfortable expressing their insecurities and exploring their characters deeply. We had discussions about their characters’ motivations, and that openness allowed them to channel their feelings into their performances. The energy on set was great; we all had fun despite the challenges. I think that joy translated onto the screen!
T.E.: That’s wonderful to hear! Global collaborations like this one can often face linguistic and cultural barriers. Can you share how your team overcame those obstacles during filming?
W.T.: It certainly was a learning experience! There were times we faced misunderstandings due to language differences, but we approached them with an open heart and patience. Humour and creativity bridged many gaps. by focusing on shared goals and the global language of film, our Japanese and Thai crews collaborated seamlessly. It reinforced my belief that storytelling can unite us.
T.E.: As a director, what do you hope audiences will take away from “(LOVE SONG)” once it’s released?
W.T.: I hope viewers will experience the transformative power of love in its many forms. The film explores themes of vulnerability, connection, and growth. While we share specific cultural nuances, I believe the emotional depth is universal. I want audiences to leave with a sense of hope and a reminder of the importance of honest relationships—both with ourselves and others.
