The leader of the opposition, Knesset member Yair Lapid, was interviewed by the Ynet studio this week, and while talking, he was presented with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s achievements, including “There are peace agreements with the countries of the Arab world…”. Lapid was not confused and took credit for it: “Yes, I know, I signed them, I signed them…”. Lapid claims that he signed them as prime minister, even though the person who signed it was Netanyahu in a special ceremony at the President’s residence.
Lapid added and asked rhetorically: “Who opened the embassy in the United Arab Emirates, who signed the agreement with Morocco? It is not relevant for now. Israel is no longer democratic,” this is what he claimed in the background of the legal reforms promoted by Justice Minister Yariv Levin. Lapid also stated: “Saudi Arabia will not make an agreement with us.”
MK Moshe Tor Paz from his Yesh Atid party backed up Lapid’s words on Ynet because he was the one who signed the Avraham Agreements and said in an interview with Radio 103FM: “No craft is called except by the name of Gomera.” Bibi has a significant part in these agreements, but Lapid scooped the jackpot.”
