The conversation, which is held in English, can be listened to live by anyone on X – either via the app or via the x.com website. It is not necessary to register with the short message service. We at t-online will also depict the conversation and classify the content of Musk and Weidel’s statements accordingly.

According to Weidel, the talk is started using X’s so-called Spaces function. This is a livestream feature on Musk’s network. When the Musk-Weidel Space has started – at 7 p.m. – it automatically appears at the top of the X homepage for all users.

“This is part of the general functionality of Spaces, which allows anyone to listen, regardless of whether the person is logged into an X account,” writes X.

Important for users who have an account on the network: Since the space is public, these users are visible to everyone else in the space. Listeners who are not logged in cannot be seen by other users.

According to the information, it will be an audio-only conversation without video. Musk and Weidel have not yet met in person. The AfD leader has been promoting the conversation with a countdown on X for days.

Musk has spoken out in favor of the AfD several times in recent weeks – including in a guest article in “Welt am Sonntag”. The interview takes place less than seven weeks before the federal election – and two days before the AfD party conference in Riesa, at which Weidel is to be officially nominated as a candidate for chancellor.

Musk’s commitment to the AfD a few weeks before the new Bundestag elections was sharply criticized in this country. The non-governmental organization LobbyControl expressed the suspicion that Musk’s commitment could be an illegal party donation. According to the EU Commission, the conversation does not violate the rules for online services (Digital Services Act).

As the US media “Politico” writes, up to 150 EU officials are said to be following the AfD leader’s conversation with the billionaire. They should check whether Musk and his Platform X adhere to EU rules. Read more about this here.
