The number of people living with the new omicron virus strain is rapidly growing in Moscow. This was announced by the mayor of the capital Sergei Sobyanin. According to him, the number of cases of coronavirus will increase within 7-10 days.
“In Moscow, unfortunately, we already see a significant number of patients with the omicron strain, and this number is growing rather quickly. This means that we are also at risk, and it means that within 7-10 days, I think, we will observe a significant increase in the incidence, “said Mr. Sobyanin at the presidium of the coordination council under the government of the Russian Federation on combating COVID-19.
According to him, the health care system and the stock of beds in Moscow are ready for new challenges. “All measures are standard, well-proven. Let’s hope for the best, but we are preparing for any development of events, ”the mayor added.
According to the latest data from the operational headquarters for the fight against coronavirus, the incidence of coronavirus in Moscow per day increased by 66% – 4635 cases of infection per day. This is 66.85% more than the day before (2778), and the maximum since November 12. The total number of cases in the city increased to 2,060,459.
