Soccer: the death at 39 of Souleymane “Sol” Bamba, a former professional player at PSG

Sad news spread this Saturday evening when, just before midnight, the Turkish club Adanaspor announced on X (formerly Twitter) the death, at the age of 39, of Sol Bamba, its coach. Souleymane Bamba was restless before the match on Friday evening.

Bamba, who wore the Ivorian national team 51 times, was trained as a defender at PSG in the early 2000s before going to play in Scotland, in Hibernian, in Italy in Palermo or in the English league for Leicester, Leeds or Cardiff.

A few days ago, Bamba posted on X (ex-Twitter) the memory of Sven-Goran Erikssondied of cancer. He said he was “saddened by this announcement” and hailed the “best coach” of his career.
