In recent weeks, the department has dealt strong blows to criminal gangs in municipalities such as Buenaventura, Buga, Tuluá and Jamundí itself, within the framework of the 360 Shock Plan, but following the instructions of Governor Clara Luz Roldán, seeks that the Development Plan and the programs in the different municipalities complement the progress that has been achieved in coordination with the public force.
“The department’s security vision is not only to increase manpower and public force, we have a complementary idea of the different thematic axes that the Development Plan articulates. We have some figures that we share with the national government and President Gustavo Petro, when had the opportunity to be in Buenaventura, where we agree with the vision, that security must consider other scenarios and that we seek to aim for that with the fulfillment of our Development Plan,” the official highlighted.
He added that, for this reason, “we must make social investment, we all know very well the commitments of Governor Clara Luz Roldán, in what has to do with Valle INN, the Sports Seedbeds, cultural programs in Valle del Cauca, in the different municipalities where we focus our efforts”.
Among the initiatives with a wide reach in the region are the Sports Seedbeds that impact children, adolescents and young people in the 42 municipalities, more than 16 thousand children who enjoy this strategy. In Cali, for example, currently 33 instructors arrive with different sports disciplines in neighborhoods such as Ciudad Córdoba, Sucre, Alto Jordán and Marroquín, among others, a job that allows young people to be kept away from violence.
Within the framework of the Development Plan, which serves as a vehicle for the security of the people of Valle del Cauca, the road infrastructure through the ‘Invincible Route’ advances with important work to guarantee mobility and passability through the region. Added to this is the union with different sectors of civil society, academia and the business sector, among others, to guide the comprehensive development of the territory from the economic, social, environmental and institutional dimensions.
Today, Buenaventura, one of the most neuralgic municipalities in terms of security, explained Camilo Murcia, is one of the most palpable examples of the work that has been done in the region. Food security projects are carried out with 14 organizations, projects with Afro communities, sports and recreation are promoted with the Sports Seedbeds, employment is generated with the support of Valle INN and progress is being made, with the studies ready, for the remodeling of the ‘Marino Klinger’ stadium, the first sports venue in the District.
