Social networks | Instagram will let you crop and customize post previews

by time news

Instagram is working on a new feature that will allow users to customize previews of their publications in the ‘feed’, so that they can show their followers a specific part of the cropped photograph.

Currently, the social network offers a preview of images and videos by framing the central part of these files and does not allow users to customize the thumbnail, only add white margins or remove them. After accessing the ‘Edit’ and ‘Set’ menu, you can move the photo and adjust the content that you want to fit into the frame. A grid can also be used to help frame the image.

For videos, you can only either choose the borderless optionso that the frame adjustment is automatic, or include them. In this way, the publication shows the entire content, whether it is recorded horizontally or vertically.

However, reverse engineering expert Alessandro Paluzzi has noticed a change in the way thumbnails of already published images are displayed and has shared a screenshot on his Twitter account. In it you can see in the ‘feed’ of your profile the personalized cut of an image, which shows a specific part of it, without anticipating in the thumbnail other elements that appear in the original photograph.

Once the customization option has been chosen, the legend ‘Hold down to scroll and scale the desired area’ is inserted at the bottom of the interface, as well as a grid superimposed on the image.

On the other hand, Paluzzi has verified that Instagram is also working on a option that allows uploading images with a 9:16 aspect ratio, so that vertical photos can be fully displayed. At the moment, the company has not confirmed if these functionalities will soon reach the global public or when it would be possible to access them.
