Thousands of demonstrators denounced Saturday, October 1 “the inept policy” of the new government.

A tide of colorful flags flutter in the autumn sunshine, reflecting the colorful crowds that gathered outside Kings Cross station in central London on Saturday. There are striking rail and postal service unionists, members of Extinction Rebellion and Just Stop Oil, two radical environmental groups and representatives of the Don’t Pay movement, which calls on Britons to stop paying their energy bills from 1is october.

All have one thing in common: they are angry with the government of Liz Truss. This weekend, some 170 demonstrations took place across the country to denounce the “mini-budget” announced last week by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Kwasi Kwarteng, which notably plans to lower taxes for the wealthiest taxpayers and to uncap bankers’ bonuses. Following his announcement, the pound suffered a mini-crash and the Bank of England had to intervene.
