MADRID, 28 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Socialist Party (PS) of Portugal has fallen drastically in voting intention ahead of the next elections but is still tied with the Democratic Socialist Party (PSD), which if necessary may need the support of a far-right that is soaring in the polls. and that is already around 16 percent.

Less than four months before the early elections are held, a survey published this Tuesday by several media outlets, including public television RTP, assumes that the socialists will lose the absolute majority that has allowed them to legislate with solvency in the current legislature. , abruptly interrupted by the corruption scandal that has affected members of the Government.

According to the survey, the PS would obtain 29 percent of the votes today – 13 points less than in the last elections and only one point above the main conservative party. By blocks, the right has ‘a priori’ more options, although everything would depend on the role that the far-right Chega! can adopt.

The party led by André Ventura appears in this study as the party that rises the most in voting intentions – nine points more – but the Liberal Initiative, a potential ally of the PSD, also increased to a lesser extent, rising to 9 percent. and the Left Bloc, which was already a key supporter of the socialists and is around 6 percent.

The data from the survey, carried out from 1,102 interviews and with a margin of error of three points, show that the PSD has not derived special benefit at street level from the crisis that has brought down the Government of António Costa, although there are still issues to be defined, such as who will head the PS lists for the next elections.
